The state of Hockey and Maple Syrup, don'tcha know?
The lesson for Thursday will begin with a warm up activity to review the vocabulary. Students will be asked to close their books and focus on the board. The assistant will cycle through the flashcards through quizlet, asking students to give the correct definition. This activity will take around 5 minutes. For the next 10 minutes students will be introduced to Canadian history and culture through two 5 minute videos. They will be given a worksheet for listening comprehension before the video begins so that they attentively listen to the information. For the next 5 minutes the sheet will be reviewed. For the last 15 minutes of class the students will complete a writing activity. They will write to a Canadian pen pal, describing what they have just learned about their country and expressing interest in visiting. The piece must be 10 sentences and include 2 correct sentences in present continuous and 3 vocabulary words. This piece will be completed as homework and turned in the following day.
