The Down Under

This lesson will focus on the British commonwealth of Australia and a grammar lesson surrounding the present continuous to talk of future plans.

The lesson for Wednesday will begin with a warm up activity where the teacher asks students about a location they would like to visit in the future. Ideally through this activity students will see how generalized plans take on the standard future tense. Whereas when you speak about a concrete or definite plan, we use the present continuous. This warm up will take 5-10 minutes. The students will then listen to a presentation on Australia given by the language assistant. Between the presentation and questions, this activity will take around 15 minutes. The students will then be given a present continuous v. future simple worksheet in order to review and hone their skills with the differences between these tenses. The class will end with a kahoot game using the provided i-pads regarding the material from the Australia powerpoint. This game will take up 10 minutes. As homework the students will finish and correct the worksheet.
